Hi! I’m a female singer-songwriter who also plays guitar and keys. I've been playing mostly solo for many years but recently teamed up with another guitarist on electric guitar. Together we're looking for a tight rhythm section - drummer and a bassist - to rehearse semi-regularly (we were thinking fortnightly) and play some gigs and festies for our vaguely folk-rock band. Think The Cranberries, Florence + the Machine, Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, Mazzy Star, with occasional touches of Portishead/Beth Gibbons and Dido.
I’m open to electric drums/drum machine programming as well as kit - either could work.
All genders welcome, ideally between 30-50, with at least some experience, but this isn't essential.
The initial aim would be to rehearse roughly every couple of weeks (or at least monthly) and start gigging locally, maybe play a few festies, and then go from there.
We're based in Frome, I have hundreds of songs, some already released, a few currently in production that I’d like to release over the next 12 months. I’m looking for a friendly and skilled rhythm section who appreciate subtlety and groove and believe that less is often more. Think laid back grooves but with all sorts of creative twists along the way. Depth over posturing, a bit dark, a bit ethereal, sometimes funky, often bittersweet. I feel influences from jazz, blues, rock, folk, soul, pop, trip-hop and more. I'd love to work with musicians who appreciate different styles of music and enjoy collaborating.
