We’re an established Essex-based punk and new wave covers band that also plays a bit of old-school R&B, pub rock, ska and a few new punk tunes too.
We’re currently looking for an energetic, competent and reliable bass player to join us, not just for this band, but also to become part of a developing Sex Pistols tribute act.
I’m the drummer and I’d say our frontman and guitarist are among the best on the circuit in terms of energy, ability and showmanship. Shame about their personalities (joking).
The core of the band is already here and we’re looking for the right candidate who is not just great on bass but who can drive the songs and ideally provide backing vocals and proper harmonies too. We're a 4 piece so there's no where to hide and the bass needs to be solid and pumping. But nobody cares about the odd mistake.
We have about 50 or 60 gigs under our belt and a few bookings already for next year. The sweet spot for us is around 20 paid gigs a year, earning roughly £80–£100 per man, per night.
The plan:
We’re transitioning into a Sex Pistols tribute band with the aim of playing to bigger crowds and securing better paydays.
Eventually (mid to late 2026 into 2027), this will require a full lookalike/soundalike setup to succeed, but not from day one. We’ll be working from early 2026, with the bigger gigs coming later as the tribute matures. We might drop the general covers stuff, we might not. Not sure yet. Women welcome if you think you can bring some Sid Vicious/Glen Matlock energy.
We have a couple of gigs booked already that want 1 hr general punk covers and 1 hr Pistols to kick us off.
We all have day jobs and wives, so this is never going to be full-time, and as anyone in covers bands will tell you, if this is just about the money, forget it, it’s not worth it.
Commitment matters and we need someone serious, prepared to put the homework in and willing to leave their ego at the door. Life gets busy and sometimes you might turn up unprepared, but that should be an exception, not a rule.
You’ll potentially be our third bass player. We’ve just had a line-up change that didn’t work out (great guy/player but it wasn’t to be) so stability is important to us.
Rehearsals will likely be on Mondays or Tuesdays. If this sounds like you, please get in touch.
