Hi Everyone
I'm Sam. I'm a bass player playing both electric upright and electric bass guitar.
I'm looking to join/start a band with like minded musicians who have some overlap with my musical interests (below). For me the goal is not necessarily to gig (although I'd totally be up for that), but to work on some pieces and really nail them, rather than jamming through stuff. This could be potentially any genre and any level of technicality (you will see from my influences I generally like something that is a little crunchy or groovy), but I'd like to see how good we could get it.
My background is playing jazz, blues and function music to semi-pro standard, but I have very diverse musical influences (see below) and would love to play any of their music or similar. I'd also be very open to originals, particularly if there is scope for creative input in their orchestration. I can sightread dots and tab and play by ear. I also have sung backing vocals, but I am a little out of practice at the moment. I have my own 400 watt bass amp (which is more portable than it sounds!), but no car. You can find me regularly at both the la Raza and hop sessions jam nights each month in Cambridge.
If that sounds interesting to you, send me an email with what you are looking for to make sure we are a good fit
I'll post this on a few other sites.
