Hello, I’m a 47 yr old bass player looking to join either other musicians to form a covers band or an already formed covers band….that should have got rid of 60% of people which means the remaining 40% will be sure fire class acts!
I have been playing for about 30 years…not constantly, I have slept and done other stuff at the same time….not at the exact same time as playing the bass, I mean when not playing the bass not constantly in the last 30 years I have done other stuff. Glad we cleared that up.
I have all my own gear and car i.e I’ve not stolen or borrowed any of it…honest! I have two basses, a black one and a blue one and bass amp and cabs…not taxis. I have plenty of gigging experience, so I know how to plug a lead into a wall. stand on a stage, in a living room or in the corner of a shed behind a pot plant whilst muso’s in the audience stand with arms folded, frowning because I’m using a pick, not using a pick, using the wrong pick, playing the wrong coloured bass, have the wrong face….etc etc
I’m also accustomed to no one paying any attention to the band for the first set, then after downing 20 cans of special brew just in time for the second set, to then be your biggest fan and request the same songs you played in the first set.
Can also negotiate a bass, amp and two cabinets successfully after the gig, through a crowd of inebriated men and women who have zero balance or spatial awareness, to my car, which I’ve had to park 5 miles away from the venue whilst its raining or snowing or both.
I would prefer to play in a covers band, mainly down to laziness as someone else has already done the hard work of writing the songs.
The bands I have played in have covered various genres so am quite laid back in what stuff you want to do but would rather not be tied down to a specific genre. So tribute bands are probably not my thing, unless you are starting a George Formby tribute band which I can just be a silent partner….easy money!
Anyway, I’m sure you’ll agree that I will be a sure thing for your project pending an audition of course, so please get in touch.
By the way I don’t have a great sense of humour so bear that in mind.
Cheers
John
