** Bassist Available – Experienced & Versatile (41/M, York/North Yorkshire) **
I’m a 41 M bassist looking to get back into playing regularly — either joining an existing band or starting something new.
Band Experience:
2022–2024 – "Frog Milk": Female-fronted 5-piece, playing loud, high-energy originals and covers. Big influences came from the singer’s taste (Green Day, Paramore, Offspring), but we pulled ideas from all over the place. Loved the energy, mix of originals and covers, and playing live.
Early 2010s – Math-rock/Post-rock band: Musically in the vein of 'Foals/Edmund Fitzgerald', but with more pop-style vocals. What I enjoyed most was the process of jamming — looping ideas, building parts layer by layer, and watching songs take shape. Played live regularly back then and really miss that collaborative buzz.
Playing Style & Skills:
Bass theory: intermediate level — I’m not a bass purist and I don’t have the confidence to fully play by ear, but I’m reliable, solid, and adaptable.
Learning: I can learn quickly from tablature or by taking direction from a guitarist/other band members on the sound they want, or learning existing material.
Covers & originals: Happy to learn existing material to slot into a band or contribute ideas when writing new stuff, but I am also happy to do covers (if I like them) or a hybrid of both covers and originals - anything really.
Musical Tastes & Influences:
Post-rock: 65 Days of Static, Maybeshewill, Explosions in the Sky.
Alt/Prog/Heavy: Tool, Puscifer, A Perfect Circle, Limp Bizkit, classic/nu-metal, grunge, alt-rock.
Covers I’ve enjoyed: Green Day, Incubus, Paramore, My Chemical Romance — basically anything with a groove, a big hook, or a huge crescendo.
I’ve got pretty broad tastes and I genuinely enjoy stepping outside my usual listening habits to play fun, energetic songs.
What I’m Looking For:
A fun, casual setup where the priority is enjoying music and playing with others.
Open to something more committed if it involves regular rehearsals, writing, or recording.
Not precious about genre — I just want to play good music with good people.
If you’re looking for a bassist who’s versatile, easy-going, and genuinely loves the process of jamming, writing, and gigging, I’d love to hear from you.
