Experienced bass player and keyboard player wanted to complete a new 80s tribute band.
We currently have drums, guitar and lead vocals in place, all played by experienced musicians with thousands of gigs between us. The band members range in age from late 20s to 60s, so age isn’t important to us — musicianship, reliability, personality and commitment are.
The band will be playing a broad selection of well-known 80s material, covering pop, rock, new wave and funk, with artists such as Duran Duran, The Police, Queen, Huey Lewis & The News, Peter Gabriel, Simple Minds, Bryan Adams, Tears for Fears and similar.
The aim is to put together a high-energy, professional 80s show, rather than simply standing on stage playing covers. We already have a clear visual identity and stage concept in development and want the musical side of the band to be equally strong.
We’ll initially be targeting pubs, clubs and live music venues, building a solid show and reputation before moving towards corporate events, private functions, festivals and larger opportunities.
We rehearse once a week and are looking for people who are happy to put the preparation in outside rehearsals so that rehearsal time can be productive.
For the bass position, we’re looking for someone with solid timing, good groove and the versatility to move comfortably between pop/rock and the funkier side of the 80s material.
For the keyboard position, we need someone comfortable recreating the sounds that are such a big part of 80s music — synths, pads, piano, brass, strings and classic electronic textures. The ability to program or organise sounds efficiently for live performance would be a big advantage.
If you’re interested, please send over a short video of you playing, along with a little about yourself, your experience, location and availability. Live clips are ideal, but rehearsal or home-recorded footage is absolutely fine.
Auditions will be held 17th September onwards.
