Hello there.
I’m looking for folk musicians and/or medieval music enthusiasts to form a band. Preferable age range between 20-40.
First, some of my background:
I am an experienced working professional based in Torquay.
I studied music at Plymouth University, and have over a decade of live performance and studio recording experience as a musician and vocalist in various bands playing all sorts of genres around the country. I currently work as a cabaret performer (lead Male vocalist, ensemble dancer, host) for a leisure resort.
As well as singing, I play guitars, bass, mandolin, ukulele, ten-string lyre, tin whistle, saxophone, ocarina, basic percussion/drums, and basic keyboards. Lately I’ve been getting more into historical and world musics, so let’s do something with that.

Regarding the proposed group, we could play existing folk music (preferably Celtic/European, but not necessarily essential), original music, or ‘bardcore’ - an emerging genre of covering popular songs in a ‘medieval’ style. Spend five minutes looking at ‘bardcore’ on YouTube to get an idea. Most of what’s out there is a bit midi and rubbish, but some of the ones with vocals are gold. Especially the covers of Fortunate Son, Pumped Up Kicks, and Billie Jean.
The more traditional the instruments to the time period, the better. But exceptions can be made, e.g. acoustic guitar instead of Lute.
It definitely needs a percussionist (Usually tambourine and a drum or two), some sort of bass instrument, and someone to fill the role of ‘lead guitarist’.
A guitarist with multi instrumental ability on lute, lyre, bouzouki, or anything of that nature would be amazing.
Another lead instrument, such as a violinist or flautist, would be double amazing.
Having vocal ability is helpful, but not essential.
