Band seeks vocalist (ffo: Fugazi, The Mars Volta etc.) East London

Drummer, bassist, and guitarist here with 11 songs ready to go for an LP. Some industry connections and touring/gigging experience. All mid twenties and at least one car between us. Lol.

Currently in the process of making pre-prod demos of all the songs so happy to send.

Looking for a singer 21-35 (preferably), gender isn't relevant here. We're based in Leytonstone but rehearse around East LDN.

Importantly, we want someone who is an excellent lyricist who has something original to say, and is preferably influenced by literature as well as music. At the risk of sounding arrogant, we can't abide a bad lyric. You don't have to be a trained operatic singer who can hit whistle notes or whatever. We just want something that sounds original and helps us to improve as songwriters and musicians ourselves.

Screaming/harsh vocal capability wouldn't go a miss but isn't necessary as we have that covered where relevant.

Really we're looking for someone with a unique sounding singing voice rather than a traditionally "pretty" or impressive one. Think bands like At the Drive-in, Fugazi, Swans, Daughters, Bjork, PJ Harvey etc.

We're not averse to taking a chance on someone from a totally different musical background, but hardcore punk and adjacent styles/culture are very important to us and it would benefit all parties if you are familiar with that sort of songwriting style and aesthetic.

Importantly, we're not interested in working with drug addicts or alcoholics. No judgement from us and we've all been there, but it's something untenable for us as a group. The odd drink isn't an issue, but we've all done this long enough to know that any musician who has money for beer and weed but can't afford regular rehearsal is for all intents and purposes, not a musician.

Appreciate that this ad comes across as a little self righteous at points, but we're trying to work very hard on this music and really want it to go somewhere, and we commit a lot of hours, so like any other vocation or job, we are only interested in serious applicants who don't shy away from commitment and work ethic.
