Are you 65+ and singing? Here's a soft little melody of an idea, something that’s been on my mind for a while.
COME AND SING!
Whether you’re a senior singer or a singing guitarist – woman or man –, this might be for you. You love spending your time with music, and sometimes find yourself wishing you had someone to share that joy with, someone who truly gets it?
I have gathered wisdom over a long and winding journey of years piece by piece with music, my faithful and gentle companion, through an astonishingly diverse array of harmonies. I am an experienced male composer, musician and music teacher, now retired as a teacher – composers never retire –, orchestrated by cheeky counterpoint et fugae erraticae, and dangerously enthusiastic about making music. Deep classical and swinging pop, now talking about the latter.
In my home building in Esher, Surrey, I have a practice room where I sing and play the bass guitar and keyboards – most often with great backing tracks, sometimes just "naturally" without them. It’s fun, but there’s something extra special about making music together.
Would you, the one singing, perhaps like to consider joining me to enjoy the magic of old-time favourites like rockabilly, rock 'n' roll, boogie-woogie, melodic pop, swing, Dixieland, Americana, traditional country, blues, and so on? Or maybe you know someone else who would?
I’m not in a hurry to begin anything right away – probably sometime later in the winter, when the moment feels right and, with a little luck, if a kindred spirit or two feel like humming along. For now, I’m curious to see if this note resonates in someone else’s musical heart nearby. If it does, let's then decide about starting together.
I’m listening for echoes, fishing the waters.
Does this idea strike a chord with any mature soul around here?
Many thanks for reading. May whatever you're doing be oddly delightful.

P.S. So the aim is to form a two-voice duo with backing tracks. With your guitar, if you happen to play one (not required), and my bass guitar (and keyboards). Later on, we might become a trio, or even a quartet, if that’s where the music leads. But with backing tracks, there’s obviously no real need to expand the duo – though we absolutely reserve the right to change our minds on a whim.
