After successfully starting “80s Replay – Synth Pop Band”, I’ve now decided to start another 80s band.
The band has changed musical direction since it was first started, I want to go back to something closer to the original vision I had for the band. I’m still gigging with 80s Replay, I get on well with them and will continue until I’m replaced later this year. I would recommend going to see them.
I’m looking for the following musicians:
Everyone except a keyboard player
Having said that guitar and bass players who can switch to keys opens more possibilities. Even if you can’t play keys now, it’s something that can be learnt over time as songs are added.
Getting the sounds correct is very important, we will not put our “own spin on it”. That usually means a guitar version of the song with generic sounds.
An electronic drum kit would be good, but otherwise a pad to recreate sounds that were made in the studio and are an integral part of the song.
The songs all need distinctive synth sounds, that’s the focus. I’m staying away from all the obvious stuff, looking to play songs that were well know at the time but may have been somewhat forgotten. Mostly British bands, certainly the band will represent what it was like in this country during the 1980s.
I’m not quoting a certain direction, that can be decided. Genres could be varied, songs like “the politics of dancing” for example would be great. I’ll get a better idea once people take an interest.
