Hey there, we're a metal/hardcore band looking for one more member to complete our lineup. So far we consist of four members; Warren - screaming vocals, Liam - rhythm guitar, Martin - drums, Matt - lead guitar . We are quite flexible about the musicians we are able to incorporate into this project being that we can switch instruments. Matt and myselff (Liam) can play either guitar or bass depending on who is available to join us.
Currently we're in the stage of writing and practicing, we have several songs down. We're looking to start gigging as soon as we have a full set ready.
We're ideally looking for someone who has a decent amount of skill on either guitar or bass. Gigging experience would be super helpful but isn't a necessity - so long as you know how to set up your instrument and perform a show with a good amount of energy and enthusiasm thats good enough for us. We're not expecting you to have your own head and stack amp as we can hire them for practices and borrow other band's gear for gigs but we do expect you to at least have your own instrument. Bonus points if you can sing and can drive/have a car.
FAQ Do you have any experience? Yes, I (Liam) have played in a couple bands and have performed around much of the north and midlands of England, along with one-off show in Italy. We have also recorded a couple of EP's and a full length album. I (Warren) also have a little bit of experience in the musical realm. I have been the drummer for a couple of alternative/surf rock bands in the United States. I have also been the drummer for a couple of death/black and thrash metal bands. Along with drumming I have done vocals for a couple of death metal projects back in the states as well. I have played a few shows in Michigan and I have recorded vocals for a brutal death metal full length and drums for a few random songs here and there within our various projects. Martin has done a variety of gigs with various projects. Matt has done a few concerts as part of his music degree.
What are your influences? I (Liam) am influenced by a wide variety of bands and artists. My main influences are, Alesana, Hawthorne Heights, Motion City Soundtrack. The influences I am drawing on for this project are, While She Sleeps, The Elijah, Devil Sold His Soul. However, we will be modifying the sounds in order to make it uniquely our own. There is no need to be generic, it has been done before. I (Warren) am influenced mostly by Cephalotripsy, Embryectomy, Cannibal Corpse, Amy Winehouse and Jack White there are many others. I am with Liam when it comes to the sounds we are looking to be based on, however I would love to integrate some death metal undertones into our music.
How seriously are you going to take this band? It is a project we want to concentrate heavily on. However, we do have university courses to concentrate on as well. That means it will not be possible to gig or record if it will interfere with class and exam schedules and overall things of that nature. But we are Prepared for this to be a full-time-part-time band.
Do you have your own gear? I (Liam) have my own instruments, leads and 40 watt Fender amp, which has done well enough in small pubs, in bigger venues I have mic'd it up. However I am prepared to invest in a head and cab should the project demand it. The practice space we've been using is fully equipped with amps, mics and a drum kit.
How much money are you will to invest in this band? I (Liam) have student loans, so as much as that will allow. My only expenditure is my weekly food shopping, so I should be able to contribute a fair amount. The main things that I (Warren) spend money is my grocery list and school materials. I do not have a student loan so I tend to be a wise spender.
Do either of you drive? No. If we are gigging and practicing in Bangor, then we are able to walk practically anywhere since it is a small place. If we are going further afield then the train system along with kind friends who offer lifts for petrol money and staying in hotels. If you drive yourself, then drives to and from shows/recording and practices will be treated as a shared expense and we will help out with petrol money.
Covers or originals? Originals. A cover or two to fill up the set to begin with will not hurt, we are however definitely aiming to keeping it original. We both write and you are not under any pressure to write stuff and bring it, but if you would like to write feel free to do so.
