I didn’t want to spam the board. Posted a little while ago but I’ll be honest, I half arsed my ad.
I’m not a great singer but I’m the best frontman in the world once I’ve had half a bottle of rum. Only one half of that statement was true.
Anyway, I want to start a band playing mainly originals - I’ve got shitloads of songs or half ideas and some of them might even be half decent - but I need to find the right people to get involved. I’m totally open to other people’s ideas and writing too.
The music I like isn’t necessarily the music I write but then calling what I write music is an affront to the artform. I use garageband on my phone and fiddle my way around the touch instruments to try to convey what I want to but I have absolutely no musical theory knowledge or understanding.
I’d say the stuff I tend to do is a bit more… avant-garde if I’m being kind to myself. Psychedelic sometimes. Or just mediocre most of the time.
If you get it, then welcome aboard!
I think the best place to start is with a guitarist and then we can hammer out a few ideas, prototypes, demos whatever. Then drums, bass and maybe a second guitarist and/or some kind of wizard on a keyboard.
I’m 36 and looking for people around my age or younger but what I absolutely don’t want is anyone who’s going to look like my Dad on stage. Image isn’t that important to me - but cultural reference points and attitude are. I’m not serious about trying to make money or anything like that. I just want to get drunk and play some bad gigs. Chances are, if you’re in your 40’s and above, your life priorities are going to be different, regardless of your talent.
Speaking of which, I’m obviously not talented but a half decent guitarist would be a bonus. No one who’s literally just starting out.
f*ck me this is a rant and a half.
Tl:dr version: want some band members for bluesy/stoner/garage rock band.

There’s a fair bit of rubbish to sift through there so good luck.
