I know it is a crap time to consider this but i have just semi-retired and I hoping to play some music with like minded musicians. I have been in several gigging bands (remember them?) over the last 15-20 years or so and can't face hanging up my sticks just yet. I'm not seeking to be a rock star or to break new ground, I just would like to play music and have a pint/laugh, hopefully both doing it when the world returns.
My experience of getting a group together suggests that much can be done without being in the same room. Getting a set of committed people, song choices, research and PRACTICE can all be done at home. The hope is when this sh*tty virus stuff is over we can put it together and play some good music - not amazing, just as good as we can easily be.
I'm not looking to gig necessarily. I have done hundreds inc festival appearances. I'm just looking for a reason to keep my kit and skills as I'm not ready to give in yet! Now peeps; we all know what happens when a band gets good....gigs come to you and I can do that
I am a simple rock drummer. I can hold a groove, play tight fills and usually remember the outro. I have my own gear, transport and don't want to travel too far for practice.
I guess I'm limited to classic rock and blues. I have tried to get away from it but it drags me back and in fairness it matches my style of play (my limitations!). No need to list "influences" I think you will get the idea.
So, if your are interested drop me a line and we can have a socially distanced, vaccinated and generally masked conversation. Until then, stay cool, stay young and stay safe. Steve.
