Hi,
I studied drums for several years when I was younger, stopped when university and adult life took over, then returned to playing at 40.
Musically, I'm firmly rooted in the 60s and 70s: rock, blues, soul and Motown. Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Cream, Hendrix, Free, Deep Purple, The Who and plenty more. I'm not rigid about genres though. If it's got a great groove and some soul, I'm interested.
I'm easy-going but serious about playing well. I'd ideally rehearse every couple of weeks, perhaps weekly when things are moving, build a strong set and gig reasonably regularly, preferably paid.
I'm married with two young children (4 and 6), so I'm looking for people who understand that work and family are part of life. I'm committed and reliable, but I'm not looking for music to become a second career or take over every weekend.
I live in Leek and work in Manchester, so I'm fairly flexible on location. Macclesfield/Congleton would be ideal, but Stoke/Stone, Crewe, Sandbach or somewhere in between could work for the right band.
The social side matters too. I'd like to play with people I genuinely get on with. Good rehearsals, good music, some decent gigs and a pint afterwards sounds about right. Age isn't important to me. Musical taste, attitude and getting on with each other are.
I'm equally happy to join an established band or start something from scratch.
One final warning: when we meet, please don't judge me for my slightly insane addiction to vintage drums. I'm aware of the problem and I'm currently seeking help.
If this sounds like your kind of thing, drop me a message.
