???? WHO FANCIES REVIVING THE NOUGHTIES INDIE SCENE? ????
Cast your mind back to the mid-2000s and the UK music scene…
Big, ridiculous backcombed hairstyles, band T-shirts, neon-coloured cardigans, skinny jeans so tight you could barely breathe, and Topman was practically your second home.
And the music? Absolutely bloody brilliant.
Well, I’ve been toying with the idea of putting together a covers band dedicated to bringing that era of indie music back to life.
Not your typical pub covers band playing the same old songs, but a proper celebration of the noughties indie scene. The kind of music that filled indie clubs, festival fields and sweaty dancefloors throughout the 2000s.
Think bands like:
* The Feeling
* The Kooks
* Razorlight
* The Hoosiers
* Early Arctic Monkeys
* Early Kasabian
* Kaiser Chiefs
* The Pigeon Detectives
* The Ting Tings
* Bloc Party
* The Automatic
* The Courteeners
* The Enemy
* Early Kings of Leon
* The Strokes
* The Streets
…and plenty more!
The idea would be to start out playing pubs, clubs and live music venues, with the possibility of developing into a dedicated noughties indie tribute act further down the line.
I’m putting the feelers out to see whether there’s enough interest from like-minded musicians to make it happen.
I can play either bass or rhythm guitar, so I’m happy to slot into whichever position works best for the lineup.
Ideally looking for:
* Lead vocalist
* Lead guitarist
* Drummer
* Bassist or rhythm guitarist
* Possibly a keyboard player, depending on the lineup
If you grew up loving this music, still know every word to Mardy Bum, and think the indie scene deserves a proper revival, give me a shout!
Let’s bring back the skinny jeans, questionable haircuts and indie rock ‘n’ roll.
Have a look at this as an idea:
