My current band HOMEBLOOD is about to disband. Myself and the (fantastic) drummer have decided we want to start a fresh project with a new vocalist and a focus on writing as many straight-up catchy bangers as we can whilst still having a heavy element to the music - and perhaps the odd experimental track here and there. Riffs, big chordy bits and the odd breakdown is what we’re here for. We’re open to including some more electronic elements as well and I already muck around a lot with synths and production in the songs, but it will fundamentally still be a band-driven sound (guitars, drums, bass, vox). Influences include stuff along the lines of Mallory Knox, Lower Than Atlantis, Don Broco, Loathe, Nothing But Thieves, Thrice, Bad Omens, Letlive, BMTH, Boston Manor, Trash Boat, Sleep Token etc.
We’d be looking to approach the new project in a very contemporary way. We want to write and record a bunch of material, then focus entirely on releasing, marketing and building a decent online following using said material before going out and gigging - which we will do once there's actually some demand for shows, instead of playing pubs to no one in the arse end of nowhere all the time. So, location isn't really an issue as we'd be working remotely a lot. On that note, I’m based in Guildford and the drummer is based a little outside of Hemel Hempstead - but you could be in Leeds for all we care so long as you’re down to commit your passion, time and money (where needed) to the project properly, as well as make the commute for rehearsals in the lead up to a tour or important show.
We would be able to create records pretty quickly as the drummer can record his own takes with great quality using a full acoustic drum kit in his home studio. I've got tons of guitar and bass recording gear, plus all the mixing set-up needed, and we both have tons of studio experience. Really all we need is a vocalist and we'd be all set to start making records. I also work at Sunnyhill Studios with Ben Sansom from Lower Than Atlantis and have learned so much from him in the last year about recording and mixing (plus have some pretty great connections as a result), so I can mix our tracks which will massively speed up our workflow. We already have a couple of tracks demoed out and are beginning work on some more.
The drummer and I are both early 20s, so we’re ideally looking for someone close to our age. Late 20s is fine, but really we need someone over 18. Experience in recording studios, bands and live performance would be ideal but having a cracking voice and work ethic is our top priority! Ability to scream would be cool but isn't essential as I can handle that side of things.
Driving license preferable though not essential depending on your location. Please drop me a line if you’re interested - we’ll need to hear some form of recording of your vocal ability be it on a released record or even just a phone video to get an idea for your voice so please keep in mind this is the first thing we’ll ask for when getting in touch!
