Hey how's it going, my name's Oli. I'm a 27 years old and I've just moved back down South after living and jamming in London for about 5 years. I had a few bands and a few gig up there, and I'm looking to start or get in with some musical rumblings happening down here. Most've the stuff I did up in the big smoke moved anywhere from drunken Blues, shouty Rock, melancholic Folk, and acid-dripping Psych.
In my head, I've jammed Harmonica with Sonny Boy Williamson, growled with Tom Waits, pranced around with Jim Morrison, sang gospel with Sam Cooke, harmonised with the Fairfield Four, and generally pretend I live in a quantum state between the 60s and the 90s.
So yeh, to summarise, I'm kinda looking for anything creative, old fashioned, and ideally with an attention to cleanliness; I'd like to cover songs or write new ones or just get into some kind of stoned 14 minute improv droney guitar psyche thing....or whatever really. Don't mind covers, my inspirations usually include:
Tom Waits (The world's not my home, I'm just passin' through)
Lynyrd Skynyrd (Free Bird for sure, but Sweet Homes a little "eh" by this point)
Muddy Waters (got a pechant for Champage & Reefer...the song's pretty good too.)
Lead Belly ("Sometimes I live in the country, Sometimes I live in town, sometimes I get a great notion, to jump in the river and drown")
Little Walter (I've got a pretty clean recording of "My Babe" if you wanna get the gist of what I used to sound like in 2015)
I dunno what else to put here, I sing a lot of covers. My style is kinda like Rock, Gospel, Psychey, Screamy, Shouty, High-pitch and sometimes real Low down. I've got quite a vocal range, and a kinda healthy relationship with my Ego, oh and I also play harmonica (which I'm pretty damn good at).
Y'know, just get in touch if you're curious. Or if not, then whatever, maybe we can just go for a drink and chat music. Drop me an email at majorbarzi@gmail.com
Much love,
-Oli.
