Shadow of Acolyte are seeking an accomplished, competent rhythm guitarist who is also able to play melody/harmony parts from time to time.
We are a well-established four piece mainly based in Nottingham and the surrounding areas. We rehearse every Tuesday in Loughborough for two or three hours, so availability on that night is absolutely essential. As is own transport and good quality equipment.
We are a driven, serious and committed band with a vision already in place - we are looking for someone to come on board who can share our goals and passion.
We have already released a debut album in 2013, a concept album called ‘Nicene Creed’ and have just released this January, a four track E.P. that went straight to #1 on Amazon’s Digital Hard Rock and Metal Bestselling Album Releases. We have been playing show since June 2017 and are continuing this into 2018 with some shows already booked. We are currently averaging around one show per month but are hoping to increase this.
Our music is a mixture of melodic hard rock and classic heavy metal with some progressive rock influences. Whilst most of our songs are rockers, we do incorporate some odd time signatures such as 7/8 and 9/8 so the ability to play in those is essential. We are looking to explore musical territory and make some ‘thinking man’s’ classic heavy metal.
We have had reviews in Powerplay magazine, interviews in Fireworks and been featured on the cover CD too.
Age is not too much of an issue - just a passion for common music and an interest in pushing musical capabilities.
Good quality gear is essential as we have a pretty professional set up - Heads, Cabs, decent pedalboards etc.
Good attitude is also essential - no egos or self-promotion is really important to us - everything we try and achieve is for the collective good of the band.
We currently have a set list of around 10-15 songs and we play original material. The only exceptions are covers of Iron Maiden’ Revelations, Powerslave and Infinite Dreams which are on a one cover per set rotation.
Also, use of WhatsApp is essential for communicating as we are spread out across the East Midlands.
We are extremely well organised, and use Google Drive for storing our digital assets etc....so no time-wasters.
We do have a gig at Mama Liz, Stamford on Saturday 7th April. Ideally, we’d like someone to dep and learn the set as a baptism of fire so ability to learn songs quickly is also essential. We have played venues such as The Diamond, The Maze, The Hairy Dog, The Victoria Biker’s Pub.....
Rather than list all our influences, they can be summed up as:
Classic Metal (Iron Maiden etc)
Progressive Rock/Metal (Dream Theater/King Crimson/Marillion)
