Vocalist-singer searching for musicians/instrumentalists and other creative minds to make original and explorative, fresh new music with. Currently based in Stroud.
My voice is my instrument. As a singer, I have a really creative grounding in song and music, as I have trained quite thoroughly with some amazing teachers in both holistic and classical approaches and practices to the voice. I have a genuine love of creative process, and the connection between the voice, the body and the psyche/spirit. I regularly do what I like to call ‘songsmithing’ - an immersive studio process where I create free-flowing improvised songs from poetry, movement and intuition. I’ve sang in a number of live performances and creative collaborations over the years, and I'm widely experienced in theatre, performing arts, live art and healing/therapeutic explorations of the arts. These are things I'm enduringly passionate about in life.
Essentially looking to...explore, create, and play! Developing something that is expansive/inclusive of other creative mediums and that can accommodate an experimental, explorative approach where new sounds can arise from open inspiration. Developing something that could be taken to festivals. Developing a project that can go a'gigging, and that's responsive to and engaged with the times we're living in and the wider world of which we're a part. Creating something that is contemplative, conversational, abstract and fertile.
I have very eclectic and broad taste in music (let's chat!), but here's a few things I'm especially enjoying at the moment: Kaya Project, Kula Shaker, Linda Perhacs, Vashti Bunyan, Damon Albarn, Bjork, Sam Lee, Donovan, Kate Bush, The Human Experience, SaQi, R.E.M...And many more besides! To be fair there's a lot of 'Classic' music I love, like Peter Gabriel, Talking Heads, Mike Oldfield, Joni Mitchell and Sandy Denny.
I would love to hear from you if any of this resonates, or if you're like-minded and looking for a creative vocalist to collaborate with. Or if you want to chat music and art, reach out
