I am a bass player for a moderatley popular, UK-based melodic metal band who also writes hard rock songs for my own amusement (not appropriate for the band I'm in now). During these lockdown restrictions, I have been busier than ever composing songs and would like to see some of them find a home.
So, what type of songs are these? They are a little difficult to categorise, but if I had to, I'd say a combination of southern-fried rock and heavy metal. Others are a bit more 80's based. They are catchy, groovy, bass driven (mostly), and between 3 and 5 minutes each. I've recorded them with Cubase with guitar, bass, vocals, keys, and fake drums. Most of them would be easily adaptable to other styles as well, made softer, made heavier, etc. The lyrical content (which of course could be changed to suit your tastes) tackle the suffering many are enduring living through this circus known as 2020 (including me), but they could be interpreted to fit into almost anyone's life. Other topics explored are social media, the media in general, and the false dichotomies many of us identify with.
Why don't I just produce and release them myself? In short, my singing voice sucks, and I can't be bothered to try forming a band, rehearsing, and then hoping to start building a following from scratch, etc. I've been through that too many times and I am officially on my last legs in terms of playing with original bands. The band I'm in will be the last original act I ever play for, and that is fine with me. I would rather see these songs go to an already established band with some following who would like a little extra help in the writing department.
The songs can be purchased at a negotiable, one-time fee. I only ask for writing credits on any published material. They are all copyrighted and registered with PRS.
