Hi, I'm a Darlington based 37 y/o male guitarist/drummer/bassist who plays a little tiny tinsy bit of keyboards.
I write songs, I write a LOT of songs, I some times wake up with songs in my head, I write pretty good songs in many different styles.
Fave bands include Doors, Zeppelin, Beatles, stones, Kings of Leon, Nirvana, Artic monkeys, but I am very open to most styles, even bangra but metal is a bit too much for me.
I am looking for people who love to play and experiment and are least vaguely dedicated to music, I have been in a few locally popular-ish bands and the band i am in now is very well received but the other players put playing so down far their list of preferred activities and refuse to sacrifice to the point where gigs, including festivals, have been turned down that i'm getting a bit sick of feeling angry about the wasted potential and sick of repeating my view to no avail.
I would genuinely rather be in a sh*t band that tries than a great band that doesn't.
I want to find some people who love music, who can get along with me, and vice versa and can offer some flexibility IF the potential rewards would be worth it.
I'm not asking any one destroys their family life, I'm not asking for 2 hours 7 nights a week, though 2 hours 2 nights would be nice if you intend to pretend to be serious I think, I'm just looking for players who don't use music as an excuse to get high/drunk, who wouldn't turn down a gig unless they had a good reason.
I'm not against having a drink or whatever but if the goal is music, then we do that first.
Any instruments are welcome but you must be competent musically (not necessarily technically), it would also be preferred that you are creative musically, but this does not matter if you are happy being told/shown what to play.
The plan is meet up, chat, jam, if we vibe then we start to write and learn a few covers, then we hit local open mic nights to see how we are received and take it from there.
The way I see it is you are only going to get out what you put in and that you chose to play because you WANT to play, having a laugh whilst there is a definite bonus but going there for a laugh is not why you should turn up.
If you are interested or have any questions or would like me to provide a few samples of recordings from various bands I have been in then please email me danielstasiak@hotmail.co.uk
As long as you are old enough to get into potential venues and have your own instrument then nothing else matters to me in terms of at least having a first jam together.
