Hi everyone, I'm studying performance at Weston College, and am in the second year of L3. I'm looking to form a tight/solid/long term friendly band rather than join one, with people who are aged from 18-24 possibly a couple or so years older, and very good at what they do.
Honesty is the best policy; (all of this is worth the read) please don't be put off by the fact I've never been in a band (I've tried before but it seems it's about finding the right people. Or so it was at least in the previous times), other than having played alongside others in college.
I'd like to develop confidence again and preferably make original songs more than play covers, and would like to gain a career in the music industry; session work or live performance/touring.
By lack of confidence I mean that year 1 of the performance course consisted of performing near enough every week, whereas this year has been limited.
Also because although not diagnosed, I think I probably have mild autism but it seems to be unnoticeable.
I do know though that my hearing is likely more sensitive than average, and I'm half deaf. I've always had extremely limited hearing in my right ear. Also I don't have any means of transport.
Not a sob story, I promise! Let's leave that to the x factor lot.
Instrumentally, I'm pretty good. Although I don't read music, I used to during the times when I had lessons until up to 7 years ago. I had a number of teachers, and only got to passing grade 2 or 3 because each new one took me back to the basics.
I've always preferred to play by ear (the left one, obviously) or improvise, and I find that everyone before and the very few people who I've recently played in front of react amazedly. So I'm probably beating myself up a bit when I say I'm 'pretty good'.
Please feel free to contact.
