(Exeter)

I've tried this before over the last few years with limited to no success. I am truly fed up of covers bands and want to see something original and local. I know original bands do exist in Exeter but unfortunately they are really few and far between. That and an over abundance of DJ nights...
Right, what I'm hoping to do is meet up with fellow musicians who love live music, have a passion for rock and roll (and its spanning sub-genres), have a chat, get to know each other and each others tastes and styles then hopefully form a band who play their own music. I have been in bands before but not for a long time so am slowly regaining my confidence as a bedroom song writer (really need to find the volume on my voice again!). I have about 9 songs and notebooks full of lyrics, poems and writings I just would like to meet others interested in doing the same.
A little about myself; I am a 29 year old male living in Exeter. I recently came out of a 5 and half year relationship in which i put music to one side but now am determined to get back into it. I hardly know anyone in exeter (relationship made me a bit of a hermit), I don't have a car so can't drive to meet anyone, I had to sell equipment due to financial difficulties suffered last year so all I have is an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar with no amp. I am very DIY due to a love of punk but welcome technical musicians who know a lot about equipment seeing as I learn from them. I work shift work full time so am not always free but I always know my available time four weeks in advance so could arrange practices. I live in a shared house so can't offer practice space unless its an unplugged session in the lounge ( I live with musical people so they wouldn't mind).
It would take forever to list favourite bands and music but a brief list would be: The Clash, Bruce Springsteen, Gaslight Anthem (and side projects), Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst, Mando Diao, styles include: punk, rock, blues, reggae, ska, soul, motown, metal (and various sub-genres), ambience, post-rock, classical, folk and many, many more. I'm sure anyone into music who has managed to read this far would understand the difficulties associated with trying to list favourites!
So really I am hoping to meet a lead guitarist, drummer, bassist and maybe even keyboard player. I would like to play rhythm guitar and concentrate on vocals. I'm not an amazing singer by any stretch but I believe that if you mean what you're singing it shouldn't matter and the emphasis will come across.
Anyway; thanks for reading and here's hoping something actually comes of this advert for once!
Adam.
