Too old to play hardcore too young to be in a dad band
And that's my problem. I don't like genre music, metal, anything post-whatever... In fact most things after ab out 1975 just don't turn me on. I'm an old-school guitarist
BUT
I also don't like going through the motions playing the same old tired covers, don't want to be in a "Dad" band or in any way mellow with age.
I like to rock hard, play loud, play aggressive but also hang back when necessary, play subtle rhythm and give the music room to breathe. I hate noisy bands that don't understand dynamics. I'm still hungry to learn, to write material, to push myself out of my comfort zone. I like to adapt my playing to the rest of the band but for what its worth my influences will give you some idea of what I sound like:
Robin Trower, Johnny Winter, early John McLaughlin (OK I don't sound much like this), Pete Townshend, Leslie West, early Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Wilko Johnson, Steve Hillage, Wayne Kramer, Zal Cleminson, Frank Zappa, hard-Funk, psychedelic rock, early prog, KrautRock, blues-rock, even jazz rock! Maybe I'm stuck in 1972 but I still want to play music that sounds fresh and exciting.
I have quality kit, my own transport, years of gigging experience, good keyboard skills (see my similar add for keyboardist), reasonable vocals.
That sh*t will probably put you off - but if not, and if you really do understand where I'm coming from, please get in touch and let me know what you've got in mind.
