Drummer, guitarist and keyboardist needed for atmospheric prog-rock duo Xylem, who are looking to take their music to the live stage.
Our influences include (but are not limited to) Anathema, Riverside,
Marillion (Hogarth-era), Steven Wilson & Sigur Ros.
We are seeking:
** An electric guitarist with a knack for reading the emotion and atmosphere in a song, a guitarist who can take that information and play to it accordingly. Someone who is skilled enough to play solos that we have written, and who is able to write their own when needed.
Tone is incredibly important to us, if it's important to you too then you're likely to be what we're looking for!
**A keyboardist/synth player with at least an adequate setup and the knowledge to use it fittingly to the atmosphere of our music.
We are a very synth-heavy band and atmosphere is very much at the heart of what we do - so really we're looking for someone who's as passionate about synth as we are, but with the tools and skills that we ourselves do not possess!
**A (preferably electric) drummer who has a great understanding of dynamic range, who can approach their performance with subtlety and patience. A drummer who will probably have to play slower songs, but can deliver more emotion and fully grab the listener's attention regardless.
We're all about atmosphere in Xylem and we want someone behind the kit who feels the same way.
The electric drum kit is by no means a prerequisite, please show us what you can do without one if that is your situation. We are judging on the above criteria, not necessarily your equipment!

(a bit about us):
We are Wirral-based, but we are aiming to rehearse in Liverpool. Both of us have previous experience with live music and one of us even has some experience with promoting shows. We've been writing music together since we were in High School but only recently decided to make a go of this for real (we're in our late 20's now).
