Firstly we're looking for a multi instrumentalist with reasonable ability on drums as well as another instrument(s). Song writers more than welcome.
I am a multi-instrumentalist (mainly guitar/piano, 'improving' on drums, a little woodwind/brass/strings). I've been working with a couple of lads on original material in a variety of genres for a year. We only meet up every 3 or so weeks, on Sat afternoons, hence progress has been slow, especially as we're all new to recording on DAW. In addition I have recently started work with another lad on further original tracks, and I have been in contact with other musicians via this site, who may or may not join in with us.
I hope to amalgamate everyone, probably just say we'll have sessions on Sat afternoons/early evenings and anyone available comes along; just as long as everyone doesn't come at once because my home studio is quite small, 3 is comfortable, 4 is cosy, 5 a squeeze. No one would be expected to attend every week. I have numerous instruments, plenty of guitars, amps, keys, drums, bass, woodwind, brass, strings, recording kit, etc.
There are no plans for gigs, it's just recording and socializing. We do not do covers. None of us are professional, but we're all reasonable players, with (so far) one decent vocalist. Sessions normally are split, in roughly equal portions, between; chat, jams, writing, recording. There are no ego's, we want to create good songs, but 'fun' is the byword.
My ability on drums is limited, however we don't want a dedicated drummer; firstly I'd like to drum occasionally, and not all of our songs will require drums. Consequently an ability on other instruments will stop anyone getting bored, plus it will give more variety to our song writing, and musical styles.
If you were interested in adding your expertise to our output it would be appreciated. You're welcome here when I meet up with any of the others, or come over any time as I'm retired. Everyone involved so far are in their 40/50s. We're interested in most genres (but not hip hop, or thrash metal).
If you want to pop round for a chat/jam to see what you think please do, there's no need to commit at this stage. We have plenty of demos, but nothing on the net.
Cheers, Gerard
