I am looking to start a Tribute band to Status Quo as it is something I have always wanted to do but have always talked myself out of. For the time being this will be an unpaid gig but I would like to look towards getting booked onto paid events at a later date. I am a guitarist and have been a Status Quo fan for as long as I can remember and ideally I'm looking for Professional musicians who also have a massive love for this band. This is going to be for the pure enjoyment of playing these classic tunes after all that is what the Quo are all about so we would really need to push that aspect in live shows.
I am currently seeking the following members:
A Rhino/Alan – Bass guitar / Vocals
A Andy Bown – Keyboards (Even better if you can play and own a Hammond!)
A John Coghlan / Jeff Rich/ Matt Letley etc - Drummer
All these positions do need filling but I do ask that you know your instrument to a good degree in terms of chords, scales, timings, and other jargon etc that may come up.
(In terms of aesthetics as long as you are all happy to wear some blue jeans white pumps and a Tshirt / Shirt then I'm more than happy.)
In terms of Gear please can the bass player have a spare guitar just for tunings and ease of switches in case of broken strings etc
Non Essentials but handy if you have them:
It would be handy to have a wireless pack (Bass guitarist) just so we can manoeuvre around the stage easier without falling over leads.
Set lists:
I have currently worked out 3 different set lists all with different classic tunes in and once you are joined I will send you links to the Spotify playlists I've created. Obviously once we've got a good majority of these songs down we can chop change certain bits etc. Here is the themes for each set.
Set 1 – Is based off of Quo's performance at the Birmingham N.E.C in 1989 it is an hour and 20 minutes long. I Chose this as one of the sets as it is the concert that inspired me to play guitar I'd watch this set over and over as a kid and therefore holds nostalgia and a great importance to me.
Set 2 – Is a mixture of some of the older tunes from the frantic four time period as well as some of the more recent Quo stuff I.e early 2000's so All Stand Up, Creepin up, Two way Traffic etc. The set is about an hour and 10 minutes long and obviously again this can be chopped and changed at a later date.
Set 3 – Is based off of the 80's early 90s period where they started doing covers I.e the 'Famous in Last Century' album and although this wasn't Quo's particularly best era the songs that are included will be great for parties, weddings and the like which opens up other avenues. Just so you can get an idea some of the songs in this set include: The Wanderer, Burning Bridges, Don't Stop, Old Time Rock N Roll, Hound Dog, Anniversairy Waltz parts 1 and 2, Rollin Home etc and the 3 classics every one wants to hear at a Quo gig. This set is about 1 hour and 20 minutes as well.
Obviously I don't expect us to get this done quickly however some degree of proactiveness is important.
Must have own means of transportation I.e Car or Van and be based in Kent or the South East of England.
Please send me an email at: thesearchthortone@hotmail.com
Including your Age (must be over 20) , name, where you are based and a link to a video of you playing a Quo song I.e youtube cover etc as well as a link to a video of you playing something else. This is purely so I can assess each potential member and go from there.
Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you all soon!!
As Rick used to say Let's Rock!
