We are an established 5 piece pub/function band in need of a new lead vocalist; All genres -Classic/Contemporary rock, pop, rocknroll, 70's etc; We want to get people up dancing with the aim of playing a wide range of songs, that are popular and familiar, without including just the same old standards.
That’s not to say we don’t play some obvious classics, but we also play a real variety, from 60’s dance, through 70’s rock, 80’s pop, 90’s indie and some modern stuff. Songs that the audience will love, but maybe haven’t heard for a while.
We’ve gone through a few minor lineup changes, which has meant that our gigging has been intermittent through 2018 and 2019 - but of the 20-odd gigs we have played we’ve been asked back and had a great reception.
We tend to try and give good value with a couple of longish sets, mixing older / mid tempo songs in the first set, building to high energy crowd pleasers in the second.
We have guitar, bass, keys and drums, and have just lost our male singer who has other commitments. We have some gigs lined up for 2020, but need to replace our singer in order to book more. We are keen to find someone, male or female, who will fit in with our mature, but relaxed and ego-free, approach. The Locksmiths is firstly and foremost a fun band to be in, where we try and rehearse 2 to 3 times a month (normally in a studio in Locks Heath), and select songs from a range of genres – including the odd cheesy song. We take the playing seriously and endeavour to learn new songs separately before we get together, and have regularly managed to get a song “gig ready” within a couple of rehearsal sessions. We are all working professionals between 30 and 55. We enjoy banter, and avoid stressy band politics; Expect to get the piss taken if you screw up – but it’s always in good humour. None of us are perfect and we know it. Playing music needs to be a fun hobby, not a chore. We need someone who is looking for the same level of commitment. Serious, but not too serious, and not looking to make this a career.
We have a backlog of great songs we want to do, and need a singer who will front the band, be engaging, fun, and committed so we can confirm gigs for 2020. We already have a wedding, some pub gigs, and a festival/concert booked next year, and would like to add to that once we have secured a strong lead vocalist. We’re looking at around 1 gig every 4 or 5 weeks; We have all gear (PA etc).
If you’d be interested in meeting for an informal chat and potential audition, please let us know.
