TOGS
(Newbury/Thatcham)

Hi thanks for reading this advert.
My name is James (late 50's) and I am guitarist / songwriter and play in an originals band.
However, mature bands seem to be dogged by members having umpteen excuses not to attend rehearsals. So rehearsals every two weeks become every two months, and the band never progresses to a level where it can get out in front of an audience.
I also joined a covers band playing bass... and guess what? - the same problem!
If you join a football or cricket team the organisers expect you to be available every Saturday. Sadly when it comes to bands the night before a rehearsal it's amazing how many folks have something more urgent to do... Apologies abound via a phone call... the wife is recovering from cutting her toenails, or there is no one else to look after the dog.... One could write a book with all the excuses.
As well as the music I joined a band to improve my social life and play a few gigs.
So I am looking for like minded individuals, who like me are going to make themselves available to rehearse.
I am forming a covers band playing fairly easy songs (to speed up the process) consisting of crowd pleasers... Beatles, Stones etc ie. stuff audiences want to hear and dance to.
To this end rehearsals will start in January 2020 in Thatcham near Newbury. I will decide the set list in order to avoid the normal arguments about what to play.
I have decided to play bass in this outfit, so there are vacancies for a vocalist, a guitarist, the drummers slot is most likely filled - but I am still interested to hear from others just in case. I want to keep the lineup small to help avoid issues of folks not being able to attend.
Rehearsals while getting to gig ready stage will be every two weeks, and I envisage gigging about four to five times a year. So this should leave everyone plenty of time to get on with the rest of their life.
Thanks for reading this long waffle!
