MATURE LEAD GUITARIST WANTED FOR GIGGING 60'S LINCOLN COVERS BAND
Post filled on 27 January 2022
We are Somethin Else, a successful 4-piece Lincoln-based band playing mainly 60's Rock and Roll hits in clubs booked though entertainment agencies. Our Lead Guitarist is moving away so we are looking for a high quality replacement to start rehearsing with us in as soon as possible. Our line-up is vocalist, lead, bass and drums. There is no rhythm guitar.
Gigging experience as a lead guitar is absolutely essential and a fair knowledge of songs of the late 50's and 60's era is required. We are looking for someone who can play solid RnR rhythm with lead breaks. We do not have a rhythm guitarist and we won't be getting one! It will be all down to you - it's only Rock and Roll after all! Simple stuff. Backing vocals are desirable but not essential.
We have set lists and lyric/chord sheets for everything we do. We sometimes change a song's original key and format to suit the vocalist so flexibility and adaptability is the name of the game and we welcome fresh ideas and input from all band members.
We are all mature, mainly retired, male musicians with years of gigging experience. While gender and sexual orientation are not an issue, we would prefer someone who is of a similar age group and is mature, intelligent and retired. What is critically important to us though, is that you and your partner gel and get on well with us and our partners. We are a little friendly family.
You must be presentable, reliable and committed. You will have your own decent transport and quality gear including spares in case of faults or failures.
For gigs, we will travel up to an hour and a quarter from Lincoln and play no more than one gig a month on average. If you're after loads of money and gigging at every opportunity then you won't be the one for us - we do this for enjoyment. However, we don't play for free - we only accept paid gigs which cover our costs and stick a few pounds in our pockets.
We play only clubs and private parties and do NOT do pubs. Our sets are 3 x 30 minute or 2 x 45 minutes per gig. We have about 6 sets to choose from and we select the sets for each gig well in advance and rehearse them for that gig. At the gig, we stick rigidly to the rehearsed sets and do not accept requests unless they are on the play list for that gig. For us, quality is the key.
We generally rehearse once a week in the Lincoln area.
In summary - you will be experienced as a gigging high-quality lead guitarist with rhythm experience. You will likely be retired, must be presentable and have quality gear and transport. You must get on well with us and you must have total support from your partner.
If you like what you read here and you think that this opportunity might be for you, please get in touch with a gigging CV. Also if you'd like more info or would like a meet and a chat over a coffee or a beer let us know. If we like what we see we will invite you to an audition.
