EDIT: a condensed version for the lazy legends:
- I'm a 25 y/o singer-songwriter/guitarist/producer looking to start a new project.
- Experienced in touring, recording and songwriting, but mainly just looking for genuinely creative people who love making music and wanna build something from ground up.
- Most recently been blasting people like Flyte, MJ Lenderman, Skinshape, Rhye, Papooz, Jack J, Whitest Boy Alive, Lennon/Wings etc.
- Big on groove, restraint, strong songwriting and serving the song over overplaying.
- Based a short drive from Leeds or Manchester. Access to studios, production setup, bandvan, industry contacts etc.. but mainly just looking for the right chemistry with collaborators.
If any of that resonates, then scroll down for the unnecessarily long director’s cut below hahaha.

HOLA.
25 y/o singer-songwriter/guitarist/producer/occasional snoozer haha how many titles can we fit... LOOKING TO START A NEW PROJECT!
Been playing for around 8 years now, seriously for the last 5 or so.
I’ve fronted multiple bands, written a whole lot of music, toured internationally, and recorded in studios from London to LA... yeah, bit of a show-off aren’t I. But honestly just trying to trim the fat so I’m not wasting anyone’s time.
I love music, I bloody do. And I'm looking to take this next project the full way. Looking for people to match my energy and love for the craft, not experience.. whether you have more or less. Older or younger, all of that doesn't quite matter.
Bit more about me, should you still be reading aha:
Musically I’ve covered quite a bit of ground over the years.. from psychedelic / rock / indie stuff at uni inspired by bands like Sticky Fingers, Dope Lemon and that popular bedroom pop era of people like Men I Trust, Gus Dapperton etc... through to where I’m at now, which feels a lot more stripped-back, groove-heavy, songwriting and production-focused.
Over the years I’ve gone from wanting absolutely everything recorded live - proper 60s/70s purist mode... to becoming way more interested in simplicity, texture, atmospheres, subtle electronic elements (very tasty), and just serving the song properly.
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Flyte, MJ Lenderman, Skinshape, Rhye, Papooz, Jack J, The Whitest Boy Alive, plus reminiscing a little so veins of 60s/70s songwriting stuff, Lennon, Wings, etc... First ones that popped into my head but wish I could list em all...
These days I’m way more interested in feel than perfection also... Music that reflects lived-in experiences, storytelling.. human sh*t!!.. Love when it feels understated and emotionally authentic rather than overplayed or overly polished. Can't stand over production!... Strong songwriting, groove, atmosphere, simplicity, good arrangements, and... once again SERVING the song!!!
What iz I looking for?
Right now I’m mainly looking for collaborators more than anything else.. ones who genuinely love the process of making music. People who get excited about building songs from nothing, chasing ideas down rabbit holes, staying up too late refining parts, finishing things properly, and slowly creating a sound that actually feels like its own thing... never an easy task. But achievable! I know it!
There’s no pressure to force a band together overnight, but at the same time I’m not really looking to sit on half-finished demos forever either. I want things to happen naturally yes but with momentum. Everything’s pretty much there and ready to go once the right people are involved.
If this any of this ad feels like it sticks out to you in some way, honestly just reach out regardless of what you play. You never really know with these things... worst case we call/meet up, have a beer or smoke, talk music for a few hours and that’s still a win to me. Best case, there’s real chemistry there and something properly clicks.
I’m way more interested in finding the right chemistry than assembling “""the perfect band”"" on paper...
And yeah, if you're wondering why I'm on Join My Band - I recently relocated back up to Yorkshire after spending the last few years in London. Still plenty of contacts down that end but looking for fresh blood.. A lot of the musicians I was once close with are now scattered all over the place doing their own things, so I’m basically free rebuilding my creative circle a bit from scratch.
So yes.. I’m mainly looking for people who genuinely enjoy writing and creating music together. The goal is to build a strong catalogue of demos organically and eventually turn it into a live project when the time’s right.
If you made it this far...
I’ve got access to a commercial studio, my own setup for demoing/production, a band van for gigging later down the line, plus producers and industry contacts ready for when things naturally reach that stage. But honestly, all of that’s completely secondary!... the main thing is just finding people you naturally click with - am I getting repetitive?.. I can be long winded...
I'm currently based between Leeds and Manchester (around 30 mins from Leeds / 40 from Manchester), but honestly pretty open location-wise if the right people come along. 2 Hours train from the big smoke. I’m still down in London at least once a month and likely always will be. Open to remote collaboration later down the line as well if the chemistry’s there.
Like I say, drop me a line if any of this resonates. Feel free to send over anything you’re working on.. demos, voice notes, rough ideas, unfinished tracks, whatever. Doesn’t need to be polished!! Even just references of music you love is enough.
Many thanks,
JV.
