I am a guitarist and a composer, 24, and I'm looking for a female vocalist to work with. The initial idea is to start out by jamming and see whether we vibe, if so then take things forward and begin arranging original songs together. If those are going well it would only make sense to find a competent drummer and a bassist along the way so the end goal should be putting up a band together, just taking it step by step really.
Genre wise I tend to be quite eclectic with what I enjoy listening to. I like all kinds of folk and ethno music, classical music, the Blues, oldies from the 50s/60s, Rock music in general, I'm a huge fan of the 70s in particular and the genuine and organic approach to creating music back then with Led Zeppelin being a prime example of the most brilliant, creative and versatile band to ever exist. I have had my fair share of interest in the 80s and the 90's too, pop and metal alike, with the latter being mostly Black, Death or Thrash metal bands. I listen to a lot of hip hop too, old school stuff and/or UK drill mostly that is, DnB, etc.
When it comes to more contemporary artists I really like bands with female vocals in particular, some that I've been listening to over the past couple of years include: Anna von Hausswolff, Just Mustard, Warpaint, Crumb, Dirty Dishes, Kalandra, Heilung, Euzen, Princess Chelsea, Skott, Kælan Mikla, Skating Polly, etc. I'm looking to create dark and haunting Rock music with experimental, perhaps even lowkey psychedelic elements in it, heavy ambience and atmosphere but not to the point it's too static unless the song really requires it. I also like groovy and unpredictable stuff in an arrangement. Heavily pronounced dynamics and vivid contrasts in both the rhythm section and harmony of a song, depending on the tune and it's arrangement of course.
I'm based in South West London and I have a rehearsal space to jam and create at. I don't mind commuting either. Let me know in case anything of what I've shared happens to be your cup of tea. I can also send a bunch of demos and stuff from previous projects of mine if you'd like to hear what I've done so far. I'd be more than happy to hear any sort of a recording or a demo of yourself as well.
Cheers,
Toni
