Hi James,
Very impressed of course! Your music is superb, great arrangements, brilliantly clear production and great, great playing throughout with thoughtful lyrics. Well, what can I say? My immediate question would be: What could I bring to this that you haven't got already? You seem to have all the components in place, what would you gain from having a second guitarist and with backing vocals?
Secondly, you will want to know what sort of musician I am. Well, I too grew up listening to Crosby's 'If I could only remember my name' avidly in my bedroom and be totally transfixed by the slow weaving harmonies, the acoustics, and the whole sound. So our tastes are strikingly similar. I have to say that I'm a bit of an Arthur Lee & LOVE fanatic!!! Forever Changes is my fav album of all time, very influenced by Arthur's lyrics and songwriting. I also love The Byrds, Fairport Convention (early), Pentangle, Incredible String Band and Neil Young, again and again. I have a bit of a whiny, nasal voice!! Then again so does Neil, and I love it. At present, I record simply on Garageband and have a few Folk-Rock numbers up on Soundcloud. Most are re-workings of traditional Folk songs but we (there are 2 of us that record music on Wednesday nights) have done a version of The Byrds 'Wasn't Born to Follow' that you could take a listen to if you're so inclined. It's a Goffin & KIng song, but I've shamelessly copied the Byrds version.
Oh, I am 65 years old!! Don't let that put you off too much, still can get around function normally (whatever normal is?)
Anyway, won't blether on. Here's the link: https://soundcloud.com/drust-1/wasnt-born-to-follow-byrds-cover
If you would rather not take this any further, please don't worry about offending me - just say kindly that we're perhaps not suited That way, we won't bear any grudges! OK, hope that hasn't overwhelmed you and if I don't hear from you, all the very best, you are a very talented musician, those songs are really so up my street.
Cheers,
Martin
