Hey folks,
I'm looking for some people to play with, with the hope of making a hobbyist band with a will to write some original music. It sounds intense, but ultimately, I have a job and family and am not looking to be the next Rockstar; while i'd like to practice regularly and eventually have an opportunity to gig - I'm about enjoying the experience of band-ing and making music in a collaborative way. Low pressure situations.
So, naturally (as a lot of the people here are) I'm a guitarist. I'd reckon about intermediate level and I really love rock and metal music. I aim for riffy-rock and melodic stuff quite a bit but like blues and plenty of other things - part of this is to expand my horizons a little bit too. I have no previous band experience (apart from me and one friend making a bass+guitar thing once in school). I can 'kind of' do vocals - I've been taking singing lessons so that I can write an EP and record something as a personal goal but I'd say that I'm average at best in terms of singing.
For gear, there's plenty to choose from. Having fallen into the "gear makes me better, right?" I've got a bunch of different stuff, amps, pedals and guitars. Plus I have software and enough studio stuff to be able to record at a very basic level. I suppose that this is really just to highlight that I'm dedicated to the goal more anything else. I can also drive, so getting places isn't much of an issue.
Finally, I suppose I should probably mention that i'm 36.
Really I'm just looking for people interested in making some music and learning to become better musicians in a low-pressure environment, i'd love to hear from people who are interested in such things.
Bands I recently listened to:
- Tool
- Dreamtheater
- Demons and Wizards
- Muse
- Pantera
- Motley Crue
- Opeth
- Steel Panther
The song i'm currently working on (to give an idea of music I've been trying to write; please note, it's W.I.P):

P.S. I know Covid is messing everything up at the moment, but if lockdown ends soon it'd be nice to already have a few people chatting, to be ahead of the game, so to speak.
