I am looking to form a group who has similar artistic and creative outlooks based on a similar background in music, whether listening or playing.
I seek to form a group who looks to play as a collaborative unit rather than a bunch of people soloing on stage together. I look for musicians who have a reasonable standard of playing, that is can produce the sounds required to a professional standard, that is, ask yourself; if I heard the music I play, would I want to go see it or listen to it? Whilst there are loads of technically superb players out there, shredding at the speed of light or playing, playing 4 instruments at once or playing note perfect other people's music whilst learning an oriental language is not on my list of wants. I seek musicians who want to create their own material & want to play together as a tight unit.
I am keen on compositional elements and hope that I would be a part of a bigger unit producing cohesive and convincing songs using a mixture of instruments and formative styles. My particular musical interest lie in contemporary classical music; jazz, ska & rock bands such as early Genesis (up to 1978) King Crimson; David Sylvian; Adrian Belew; Robert Fripp; Stina Nordenstam, Penguin café orchestra, world music, early Peter Gabriel (first 4 albums) to mention just a few (the list is endless). Music that draws on all the sound possibilities of each instrument is a must. I am not after a weekend pub-gig group. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that,; it's just not where I'd like to be. I do hope to be able to record some tracks for a demo at some point.
My current rig is: 2007 Pablo Requena 6 string classical guitar; 1996 Fernandes APG-65, 1989 Tokai "Breezy-sound" Telecaster, Fender Stratocaster, concert size Ukulele, Roland JC-120 amp & a growing collection of musical magic boxes or in common parlance, pedals numbering 12 at present.
I have an account at Soundcloud where you can see past musical examples. In the search section type in "camusfearna" to find my work.
Whilst having been through this process before, I am forever hopeful to meet a group of truly inspiring & amazing musicians who share a common ideal: to make great music together.
I am not expecting a great deal (always a problem in the past) but taking it step by step. If you are a serious musician, whether you have any recording or live performance experience in the past, but can hold a groove and place notes well, I'd really like to hear from you.
Till then dear folk.
