I'm a drummer looking to form a band that is colourful, creative, fun and experimental.
The type of band I would like to form would be one that is creative in it's approach. I'd like it to be experimental with textured and colourful arrangements and odd song structures, but possibly with some more pop influences as well. I was also thinking it would be fun to play with the visual aspects of the band by dressing in unusual outfits, doing performance art, or projecting visuals onto us (I'm an amateur filmmaker as well, so I'm into visual experimentation).
I'm looking for any instruments at any level, people who are willing to do daft sh*t on stage, dancers and visual artists. Don't worry if you aren't an amazing musician technically (neither am I to be honest), I'm just looking for people who are creative, open minded and wanting to do stuff which is fun and creative. It would be really brilliant to find some people who play more unusual instruments like woodwinds, brass, strings or tuned percussion, but I'd be interested in having any instruments in the band (it's not the instrument, it's how you use it), so get in touch regardless of what you play (even having more than one drummer would be fun).
I've been playing drums for about a year (but had messed about in rehearsal rooms a bit before that), but my first instrument is guitar. I'm in another band that is a sort of rock trio type thing, but I'm a bit frustrated by the fact that we're not rehearsing or doing gigs as much as I would like to, so I'm wanting to form another band to play in as well.
I'm not looking to be dictatorial and tell people what I want them to play, I'm looking for us all to combine our influences and do something collaborative and unique. I also think it would be cool if we had people at different levels musically and then we could all learn from each other.
I've got a fairly extensive list of influences below (and it could've been a lot longer). I'm not sure how much our music will actually be influenced by that stuff however, but I decided to list some of the music I like so that you can get an idea of whether you'd find my music tastes compatible.
