Please read through the following information about and what we are looking for in a new member.
We have been a Fleetwood Mac tribute now for 6 years (Fleetingwood Mac). In the time we have played together, we have played in venues and festivals around the UK and annually play around 22-25 gigs a year. Currently, we are on hiatus (due to the coronavirus) but have gigs booked from May onwards. These may be rescheduled depending on how the situation evolves and some spring/summer shows are now being rescheduled into the Autumn.
We are not a traditional tribute band in the sense that we do not act as the original band members whilst we’re on stage. Our goal is to perform the music to a high standard, not to dress up in wigs and hats. We’re not looking for a Stevie Nicks impersonator, but a lead singer, capable of singing both Stevie Nicks & Christine McVie songs. There will also be harmonies needed on the male lead songs.
The majority of our shows are ticketed shows in venues with full production. We have a circuit of venues we play annually and a few twice annually. We also play a few summer festivals, bandstands and also Butlins!
Although all of our members play in other bands, Fleetingwood Mac is a priority and we would be looking for a new member to share that commitment with us.
We’re not a band that uses deps if a member is unavailable, we either all do it, or we don’t do the gig. We book shows up to a year in advance and check everyone's availability before confirming the show. Once it’s confirmed, we’re committed to it.
Our gigs tend to be on weekends. Often, if we’re traveling far, we will tie in a Friday and Saturday show and be away for the whole weekend. This sometimes requires us to leave Portsmouth midday on a Friday, and not return until midday on the Sunday. As a band, we spend a lot of time together (some van journeys are 5 or 6 hours) so we like to make it fun and have a good laugh with each other.
Once we’re in the swing of things with gigs, we don’t tend to rehearse much, however in the lead up to gigs we will rehearse a lot. Especially with helping a new singer learn our set. Although we are a tribute band, we still tend to perform songs our own way, so it’s not just a case of listening to the original and off we go. Every show is performed to memory and we do not allow lyric books or iPads on stage with us.
We’re naturally a loud band and ideally we’re looking for someone who has performed with a live band in the past. We need somebody that can naturally interact with us on stage, as well as the audience. In addition to singing, we will require some additional percussion such as shakers and tambourines.
Our band is very much a group effort and we’re looking for a new member to be part of that group and think of the band as their own. We also all do our own bits to help organise and promote it. As well as being the singer of the band, we would also want you to take over the management of the social media side of things. It would be great if you’d feel comfortable doing that.
Due to current restrictions we can not meet everyone who is applying for face to face auditions, so we’re going to do things a bit differently…
If this post interests you and you feel that you would meet all of the requirements above, please send us two audition videos singing Songbird and Rhiannon. https://www.facebook.com/fleetingwoodmac/
Please do not worry about the recording quality for this, a mobile phone recording will be fine. If you have any other videos you’d like to send us (such as previous live performances of any material), then please send that also. If you can also give us some information regarding your musical history and a bit about yourself that would be great.
Thank you very much
Paul, Sean, Matt & Dan.
