While we definitely have a metal/rock backbone that we want to hold on to, but we aspire to push the boundaries and bring in as many other genres as possible: we want, above everything else, diversity in our sound. I don't think we are fully succeeding in that yet, but we want to work with people who will push and challenge what we are doing.
Influences-wise we look up to bands like Mr Bungle, Primus, Ween, Sleeptyime Gorilla Museum and Dir En Gray.
Bass-wise we are looking for someone competent and unconventional. We are open to ideas and sounds, the weirder the better. What we don't want is a traditional root-notes-and-a-little-walk type of bass player (nothing wrong with it, just not for this band).
Current songs we are working on include:
- The surf punk song that turns into a black metal song.
- The goth song with the metal bits, then the bluesy third verse and the reggae breakdown.
- The jazz one.
- The song that is driving us insane. We have some Primussy parts, some Zappay parts, some stuff in 4/4, some stuff in 3/4, some stuff in 2/4, that weird spacey solo... We just don't know how to assemble it yet.
- The psychedelic song with the heavy ending in 5/4.
- The punky song where I speak politely, I scream and I laugh.
- The song with the African drumming where I'm writing some disjointed Pattonish vocals.
- Another 6 half-formed ideas currently on the shelf.
I think the three of us are on average reasonably decent human beings, but our sense of humour is heavily non-PC. We laugh a lot during band practice, when we go out and over Messenger, and I'm sure a lot of the population would be deeply offended by our jokes.
We usually practice on weekdays 6-10 at the Rock and Roll Circus. Thursday is our most common day but we are flexible and happy to see what works for everybody. We are in our mid 30s, your age is not a problem as long as you are committed and reliable.
