Owing to a cruel twist of fate, I find myself looking for a position in a band. Currently I'm in two quite well known local general covers bands 'Mode' and 'The Foolish' which have both sadly decided to wind up at the end of this year.
I have some gig commitments remaining for this year up to and including New Year's Eve, but then my diary pages shall be blank....and I'm looking to fill them!
I'm happy to gig with a new band for the remainder of this year, but on the understanding that I have a few gigs to honour with my existing bands until they finish.
I'm a familiar face on the circuit and have my own transport and high spec gear (I'm a Rickenbacker nut!)
I'm sure that both Mode and The Foolish will both give me good references if asked.
An ideal band for me would have an average workload in the region of 40 gigs per annum (give or take) playing a mixture of venues including clubs, pubs and functions.
I'm happy to try most genres except hardcore punk, metal (although classic rock is good for me) or old time Country and Weston.
I can offer backing vocal, although I'm a little out of practice with the multi tasking side of that (it'll come back though!) I used to do a fair bit of backing vocal a couple of bands back.
I've played everything from pop to punk including ska, reggae, rock and roll, rock, Britpop, new wave, soul, disco and funk over the years.
The only style on which I'm somewhat limited is all that funky slapping stuff, of which I do a bit, but in a fairly basic way compared to some.
I must mention right from the off that I work shifts which make me unavailable every other week for 4 evenings (Monday to Thursday). The Friday of my late shift week is never a problem because we finish at 4:00pm in the afternoon.
I'm currently having what I call my Mod life crisis! so my personal look is a bit mod-ish right now.....just needed to scratch an age old itch before my old age!
I ought to mention that I'm at the wrong end of my 40's but apparently I look younger...so I'm told (he said whilst blushing!)
The up side of age is experience and I've been playing for about 35 years....so I kinda got the hang of it a bit by now!
If you think you might be interested in making me part of your line up then please message me and we can go from there.
Cheers
Kurt.
