Competent and experienced drummer required for an established authentic 1950's Rock n Roll band currently undertaking 20 to 30 gigs a year, mainly on the UK rock n roll dance/ club circuit.
Working knowledge or previous experience of playing 50’s rock n roll particularly at rock n roll clubs would be desirable as is good backing vocals/harmonies.
Generally people come to dance to what we do e.g Jive, jump jive, boppers, strollers. We do a blend of classic rock n roll, some rockabilly and some great jive tracks from less well known artists.
Our line up is a four piece:
• Drums - with harmonies
• Double bass - with vocals
• Guitar - with vocals
• Sax
Typical tracks we perform include: Catty Town (Pee Wee King); Please Mama Please (Go Cat Go); Twenty Flight Rock (Eddie Cochran); Buona Sera (Louis Prima); Stray Cat Strut (Stray Cats); El Camino Real (Lee Dresser); Kickin Up the Dust (Jackson Sloan); Say Mama (Gene Vincent); Hot Dog Buddy Buddy (Bill Haley); Rockabilly Boogie (Johnny Burnett); Seven Nights to Rock (Moon Mullican); Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash); Route 66 (Chuck Berry). Typically these would be part of 2 x 45 minute sets.
The current drummer is leaving on an amicable basis and there is a bit of time though we really want someone who can hit the ground running soon off one or two rehearsals. The remaining three of us live in Staffordshire and Leicestershire but we gig all over.
The position is for a permanent member of the band and we are not seeking anyone with other, multiple band commitments or who would treat this as a dep arrangement.
Please reply with a contact number so we may have an initial informal chat.
