39 year old drummer with 30 years playing experienced looking for a good classic rock covers band. Wakefield based but will travel for the right band.
If you are the type of band who only practices at rehearsals, make loads of mistakes on stage and just laugh it off and are happy to just be in a mediocre band, I am not the drummer for you. I like to have fun with my music, but that doesn’t mean that it should be below standard.
If you are the type of band that puts the work and effort into being the best you can be, works hard to have a good reputation and wants to gig as much as possible then I am the drummer for you.
I have 30 years’ experience of playing in gigging bands in different types of venue all over the country. I also have recording experience. I am more akin to Roger Taylor from Queen in playing style than Neil Peart or Mike Portnoy. If you want clever tricks then again, I am not the drummer for you. I am a strong, tempo driven drummer who has the ability to do plenty of fills, but only if it suits the song. I play primarily for the song.
My gear is well maintained and sounds good. I play Pearl Export drums with a mix of Paiste Alpha, Sabian and Zildjian cymbals (I have no brand loyalty really, I prefer to use what sounds right for me) and I use Shure Drum mics. I also have a Shure SM58 Beta vocal mic and I am capable of singing BV’s if required. I have my own transport.
I am looking for a working classic rock covers band. I am not interested in gigging only a few times a month. I will gig as much as I am physically able to (with the exception of family commitments and holidays etc). And I expect equality in all aspects of the band, from a say in song choice, band decisions and pay. I like to be involved as much as possible. I have no interest in being a hired hand. Please be aware I work full time so rehearsals need to be weekday evenings.
I would like to join an established, pro-minded classic rock band. My fave bands include Deep Purple, Led Zepp, Queen, Rainbow, Thunder, Iron Maiden, Muse, Metallica, Black Stone Cherry, Rush, Porcupine Tree etc. I have no interest in joining bands that play anything by Kings of Leon, The Killers, Stereophonics etc.
Audio and video links of me playing can be supplied upon request.
If I sound like I might be the right drummer for you, please feel free to leave me a message.
Cheers
p.s. Apologies for the list of “demands” but I am fed up of joining bands who don’t have the same approach to being in a band as I do.
