Drummer Seeks Band - Played with Radiohead & Reef prev.
I am an experienced drummer looking for an original band / set of musicians to play with and create some songs with a view to gigging and recording.
I am based in Doncaster., South Yorkshire
Willing to travel throughout Yorkshire for the right band.
Preferred Styles:
Rock, Alternative, Pop, Originals...all considered.
I've got a ton of LIVE and studio experience.
All my gear is top end.
I have my own transport.
I am very capable at helping to write songs and jamming and arrangements.

Experience
**************
I've played on tours with bands such as Reef and Radiohead over the years so no stranger to the 'bigger stuff' especially in front of large audiences.
I've also played a ton of clubs on the 'toilet circuit' too.

Style / Influence
*******************
My influences are varied but I'd say my style is more rock, alternative, melodic, pop etc.
If I had to pigeon hole myself I'd say my style and preferred style was a cross between:
Ben from Biffy Clyro
mixed with
Stewart Copeland from the Police
mixed with
Brad Wilk from Rage Against the Machine
mixed with
Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters
mixed with
Jimmy from Smashing Pumpkins
mixed with
Mike Bordin from Faith no More
mixed with
Carter from Dave Matthews Band
mixed with
Danny Carey from Tool
mixed with
Tim Alexander from Primus
That should give you an idea.
I'm a 90's dude and grew up on all theses guys above.
Subtle, Sensible, Powerful, Complimentary playing.
I 'DO' listen and play for the song.
Yes...I can play double kick and have the equipment to do this.
But I'm not looking for a band that is non-stop double kick blast beats all the time.
If that's want you need from me, I'm not your guy.
No stranger to writing and coming up with original ideas or using time signatures and alternative grooves if needed. I'm no Mike Portnoy but I can handle most time signatures and 'odd' sections if needed.
I like to have a laugh.
I like well written songs that are well thought out.
I LOVE jamming.
I love people who don;t take themselves to seriously.
And...I like to work hard equally.
I've been in plenty of bands where someone doesn't pull their weight and that's not for me anymore.
I want to play with people who work hard together and don't complain every 10 mins when things aren't quite going to plan. Also, no drama queens...calm, balanced people who are primarily passionate about the music, can get sh*t done and have a laugh and some fun along the way... is what I'm looking for.
I'm ideally looking for something that is a cross between:
Pearl Jam, John Butler Trio, Smashing Pumpkins, RATM, Soundgarden, Primus, Buffalo Tom, 'A', Reef, Tool, Faith no More, Hundred Reasons, etc...basically melodic, rock, pop with a bit of heavy-sh*t thrown in for good measure with decent vocals so that it has some feeling behind it.
I like playing songs that have dynamics and build and drive and drop and have stops and stabs and then groove with cool melodies over the top etc etc etc etc...basically...INTERSTING DYNAMICS.
...not just 4/4 on the floor all the way through all the time...it's too boring if it's all the time on every song. So, if your songs are like this (aka Blink 182 / Oasis / same-old-same-old then don;t contact me.)
Would rehearse regular for the right band.
I'm self employed so I have freedom of my time.

I recently did a stint with a decent covers band for a few years.
This should you give you a feel for one of the styles I can play in a covers setting.
We did mainly weddings and all that stuff.

And here is some of my original work from years ago.
More Altrenative Rock.
This is what I'm more in to.

About You:
I've tried to include as much as I can on here for you to get to know me and hopefully make a fairly decent yes / no / good fit / not good fit.
And, I've been open and honest to try and repel those of you who already know that I'm likely NOT a good fit based on the description above.
If you are still reading and are thinking: 'Yup, this sounds like our guy' then here is what to do next...
The next step for you ideally is to help me get to know you a little bit.
For me the best thing is not to arrange a call or a rehearsal but instead it's this:
a) Send me links to some of your current or previous stuff so that I can confirm if we are a good fit musically...
b) Point me at some 'visuals' of you via photos or video.
then, if it's a good fit we can jump on a call and go from there.
It's just easier this way because I'm getting a lot of messages so it's clear good drummers are in-demand but it's time consuming for us both having to ask 100 questions and request demo's / photos / videos.
Hope this makes sense.
Can't wait to hear your stuff.
Send me some links...no matter how good/bad the quality is...and regardless of how 'complete it is yet...just record something with your iPhone if you have too, bang it online via youtube or soundcloud and send a link.
It's this simple.
If you can't do this, I'll not entertain the enquiry until you can.
Over to you.
Thanks for reading this far, I appreciate your time, hope we get to jam soon.
Mark.
