Song examples on ophelias hex soundcloud and facebook. These are only sketches though. Very fuzzed up songs with offbeat lyrics. I use a ultra rare 70s Big Muff fuzzbox in those. SoundCloud songs are too clean sounding whilst facebook is ramshackle but maybe truer to a sound with rough edges.
Require drummer aged 25 to 40. Image is irrelevant. Must be prepared to do original songs only. Would not suit someone who wants to play classic rock, emo, metal or any derivative music. Also would not suit a drummer obsessed with perfect four four rhythm music. I'm aiming for this band to be an original alternative to what's going on. Some timeless eerie heavily fuzzed songwriting appealing to the disenfranchised of London. Played very loud. Merging eerie songwriting with eerie melodies.
Aiming to create a song music hypnotic real vibe of otherness rather than sound false and plastic. To be a proper quirky original band with its own vibe and not be formulaic or derivative. Also some songs deploy odd atmospheric effects. And shoegaze owes a big debt to gothic music in any case. This brand of shoegaze is more primal...like shoegazey psych rock.
Though a technically brilliant drummer could really bring these songs to light maybe more so a basic minimalist drummer who can just maintain keeps a hypnotic steady beat could help their dark moods. I have faith in the haunting alternative slightly psychedelic songs which now need a steady hypnotic backbeat. A bassist has been recruited. Vocals may be swopped to female vox in future.
Influences from everywhere....shoegaze, alternative fuzz, indie, dark rock, indie, heavy rock, psychedelia (whatever that really means).
Looking for drummer who wishes to be in a odd original band. The influences are wide...a few unrelated bands are listed below whose mood is good.. irrelevant if you dont like same bands though so long as you wish to be part of original band doing moody
hypnotic original songs.
Some niche songwriting influences are:
Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Siouxsie and Banshees, Ultra Vivid Scene, mid 90s era Pastels, Kings of the Slums, VDGG first record, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Wannadies, Sisters of Mercy First and Last and Always, Spacemen 3, The Beatles 'backward guitar' B sides,
Most of influences are rooted in post punk alternative and shoegaze but also inspired by early Bowie, Roxy Music, and some gems in artrock, prog, acid rock, some grunge and the lesser known bands of Britpop.
Though I am specified as Bournemouth this band is definitely being put together in London to rehearse and gig London. That part of the South West ain't exactly an alternative rock Valhalla.
