My name is Tom and I am a disabled professional drummer (wheelchair user) living in Haggerston, Hackney.
I am looking for someone to drive me to and from auditions and gigs and break down and set up my gear to my specifications when needed.
I have a van, so not having direct access to one isn't a problem, as long as you have a clean UK license of course.
I do not use any special adaptions, just an ordinary kit but I am left handed, just to make things a little more interesting.
This will start out as part time work but support like this will enable me to do more, so expect it to snow-ball.
Ideally, the applicant would be a drummer themselves with at least a basic understanding or kit set up and ergonomics for playing comfortably. I'm not looking to train someone on the job. I've done too much of that. I need someone to just take care of it so I can concentrate on playing. The applicant would have to be on-time and organized. By default, they are responsible for my punctuality.
The job would also include, helping me on and off stage, (they're awkward entities) and in and out of in-accessible venues, believe me, there are plenty of those. Scoping out places for me, finding the loos and any tricky areas.
I have never cancelled a gig because of the in-accessibility of the venue but up until this point I have relied on the kindness of my friends and band mates and I dont see why I should.
Payment will be discussed, I will pay as well as I can...I also teach drums , so am willing to trade in kind.
Look forward to hearing from you.
No kiddies please, or time-wasters looking to make a quick buck, This is a tough job and I will certainly put you through your paces.
Tom
