Hello.
I have just finished a Professional Musicianship course at BIMM Manchester and I am looking for work as a performer - either as a session musician or (if it is right for me) as a member of an established band. What follows is some basic information about me. If you require more, please let me know. I would be very grateful for any opportunities.
I am an experienced performer and a bass and vocal solo artist - Öli - with music available on Spotify et cetera. I am currently working on original material and bass arrangements of orchestral music. My main bass inspiration is John Entwistle; I particularly admire his innovative playing. My main personal inspiration is Christopher Hitchens and I was inspired by him to read and to become a writer as well as a musician.
When playing for others, I am able to adapt to suit their needs but I also like to be myself. I am creative and I believe that there are aspects of my playing which are unique to me. Many have chosen to work with me in the past because of this, especially at university, where I essentially worked as a session musician for many and varied others. I am able to follow directions and instructions but I also like to add nuances and create my own parts.
I am able to take on lots of work at once; I am used to working on several projects at the same time as I have done so extensively over the past few years. Given opportunities to really focus on one project, however, I am able to contribute more, creating unique and expressive music.
If I have time and means to read, write, compose, record and have a life beyond work, I will basically be happy.
Thank you very much,
Oli Griffiths.
