Bass player needed to complete a new band of experienced musicians taking our main inspiration from late 60’s – early 70’s space rock, psychedelic, proto-prog, funkadelic ,stoner, groove, riff-rock, doom, fuzz, heavy blues, acid rock, hard rock, proto-metal, kraut-rock and electronic-rock bands and want to take this old-school sound into the future. We're not looking to be consciously "retro" and we respect and take influence from any style, but this band won’t be metal, punk, grunge, indie, easy-listening, tribute, function, jazz-funk-soul, pop-anything or unplugged. For sure we’re not post-anything, we’re pre-genre!
We are looking to find a bass player on the same wavelength by the end of November so if you're interested please let us know if you can get together for a jam between now and then in Bristol. We're ready to get working on material right now and aim to gig early next year, recording too possibly.
It’s about having fun and playing great music – making full use of all the musical elements to create light and shade - volume, tempo, density, timbre, intervals, dissonance, rhythm and probably loads more I can’t even think of – combined with attitude to create sounds of massive intensity but a sense of humour and fun. Covers to get going then add originals.
We don’t care about your age, gender or anything else as long as you’re cool with everything above and want to add something to the band rather than have an ego trip. Please get in touch if you have decent giggable gear, have good skills, know when to take the lead and when to be silent, are willing and able to rehearse in Bristol, willing to work on the material between rehearsals and – THIS IS IMPORTANT PLEASE – understand and are genuinely enthusiastic about the style of music I have made quite clear above and in the following A-Z of influencing bands (use YouTube if you’re not sure). This list covers a wide range of styles but please don't pretend to be interested then drop out when I try to arrange a jam as this gets a bit soul-destroying after a while!
