OUR VIDEOS
This YouTube video will give you an approximate idea of the ORIGINAL material we're forming the band around:

ABOUT US (working name = The Selfies")
We're a brand new ORIGINALS band, based in the north of England and with a 110% professional outlook. So far it's Mark Ross on the guitar, Derek Mellor on guitar and Andy Yates on the drums. We're all really good, experienced musicians. But now we need a really hot BASSIST and KEYBOARDIST to complete the line-up.
ABOUT YOU
Ideally, you're a really good bassist or keyboardist, and based somewhere in the MANCHESTER / WEST YORKSHIRE / SOUTH YORKSHIRE / NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE area.
You might already be gigging but have become jaded with that covers band you're in? Or maybe you played in the past and want to get back into an ORIGINALS band again?
Whatever your background is, if you're keen to play live with a GREAT ORIGINAL band, you're dedicated to providing 100% commitment to gigging / rehearsing once or twice a month, you're really good at your job ... and ideally more or less sane, then we really DO want to hear from you.
Mark is from North Manchester, and Derek and Andy are from North Staffs. So the intention is to rehearse somewhere 'in the middle' for all of us once the band is fully formed, which for now is Stockport. That means everyone has no more than around 45-50 minutes drive to get there. Triangulating, it shouldn't be TOO hard for anyone in the Manchester, Staffs or West Yorks to South Yorks areas to join us.
CAN YOU SING?
Mark will be taking the lead vocals, but we'd LOVE to have backing vocals too. So if you can sing, even better, though it isn't essential.
GENDER / AGE?
Male or female, and perhaps around 40-60, is great with us, as long as you take a professional pride in what you do.
WHAT'S THE PLAN?
The plan is simple. To rehearse our entirely ORIGINAL set of blues / R&B / rock tracks until we're as tight as a duck's proverbial, and then play our REAL proverbials off LIVE... likely to be around one or two gigs a month.
THE MATERIAL?
You would probably call the songs "Blues / R&B / Indie" and perhaps even "Rock" on occasion. There is now a near-completed album's worth of great material, and the plan is to have this new band to get out there and PLAY it all (and whatever else we come up with together creatively). Plus of course distribute it all over YouTube, iTunes, Spotify and (if we can) radio too. Some of the rough mixes of the album songs are already on here, as are two of our videos ... just to give you a rough cross-section of the overall feel of our music. Go ahead... have a listen!
GIGS?
Clubs, pubs, festivals ....we don't care as long as we're out playing live at least once or twice a month.
PUBLISHING / VIDEO / PROMOTION?
The intention by the end of 2019 is to have ALL the songs published on the usual platforms (Spotify, iTunes etc). And the same goes for accompanying videos on YouTube in the future. The focus NOW is to finish putting this great band together, start rehearsing with the full line up and get on stage!
DO YOU WRITE TOO?
Cool. We're very open - in fact REALLY keen - to listen your original material too (if you have some). If it kind of ties up with roughly where we're at, that's where we want to be. If you don't write, that's perfectly fine too.
KIT / GEAR
We've a great little recording studio here in North Manchester and BAGS of production experience. It's pretty much broadcast standard and with good gear too (iMac, Logic Pro X, Apollo 8p interface, Genelec monitoring).
BACKLINE
We have all our own backing gear, transport and a vocal PA for live work as well. (Not a heavy duty P.A. or lights but that can always be arranged).
SUMMARY
So... if you play BASS or KEYBOARDS, and you want to help us leave an audience AMAZED, then we want to hear from you. And if you can sing backing vocals too, even better, but it's not essential.
INTERESTED?
Cool. We're holding a 'Jam Day' at GREAT IMAGE in Stockport this Sunday 2nd June from 11.00 am to 17.00 pm. So if you're interested, get in touch and we'll organise a spot for you. That will give us all a chance to meet up, and see if we can make the ceiling fly off. We're definitely not looking for 'string gymnastics'... just a SOLID bass player and a KEYBOARD player with taste!
Wif you want to come along, we'll send you three MP3 tracks to try to get your head around (no pressure). So do send us your email address too. Tea/coffee and backline amps are all provided. Just bring yourself and your bass or keyboard.
Speak soon!
