If you're looking for a high tenor, let me stop you right there - I'm a baritone with a powerful classically-trained voice. When I tell people I'm a melodic rock/metal singer, they get visions of high-voiced heroes like Freddie, Bruce or Axl. I love them all and sing their songs frequently - just an octave lower! (I do, however, have a killer falsetto scream if needed.)
It's not like there aren't great baritones in the hard rock/melodic metal genres, both classic (Jim Morrison, Eddie Vedder, Meat Loaf) and contemporary (David Draiman, Joakim Brodén, Ivan Moody). Have I been able to find anyone willing to take a chance on one in Liverpool? Not so far. Putting the feelers out again.
I'm proficient in most music genres, although most of the time I hover around the rock/hard rock/melodic metal sphere of influence. If it's got some guitar solos and serious musicianship behind it I'm usually happy (although I'm not averse to acoustic/piano music either if you're the next Jim Steinman or Paul Simon). Genres I've worked in the past include:
Standard rock (Rival Sons, Vintage Trouble, Inglorious, Early Pearl Jam)
Classic Rock (AC/DC, Guns n Roses, Meat Loaf, Thin Lizzy, The Doors)
Blues Rock (Joe Bonamassa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Early Whitesnake)
Classic Progressive Rock (Queen, Deep Purple, Rainbow)
Classic Melodic Metal ((Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Twisted Sister)
Contemporary Metal (Disturbed, 5FDP, Sabaton)
Contemporary Progressive/Symphonic Metal (Nightwish, Epica, Symphony X, Battle Beast)
[The difference between my rock voice and classical metal voice is a slight blues inflection which I'm happy to demonstrate]
I have a degree in Creative Writing, and can put lyrics to any piece of music, regardless of the genre. Lots of gigging experience - former lead singer of 'Roaring Stampede' and 'Ex Morte Vita'. I also run the Band Merch shop ("Sharky's") in Liverpool and have an extremely wide knowledge base of rock music in general. Are you a band looking for a singer that doesn't sound like all the other rock singers out there? Get in touch, either on here or stop by my shop, and I can send you demos from my past tailored to your preferred genre. Must be city-centre based.
