Hi, I’m a 35-year-old guitarist based in Leicester, putting together an original band called Sleepburn. I’m looking for a vocalist, drummer and bassist to form the core lineup, with the possibility of adding a second guitarist later.
The sound is modern post-grunge, alternative metal and heavy modern rock: low-tuned, riff-driven guitars, darker verses and big melodic choruses. Heavy, but not based around constant screaming. Influences include Chevelle, Seether, Breaking Benjamin, 10 Years, Red, Tremonti and Gemini Syndrome.
There is already a large catalogue of demos and a clear direction for the band. To be upfront, the current demos were generated through Suno. They’re intended as blueprints rather than finished band recordings, and the final versions would be arranged, performed and recorded by us.
The existing catalogue will remain the main foundation of Sleepburn long-term. Nobody would be expected to reproduce every generated detail note for note: drums, bass, dynamics, transitions and arrangements can develop naturally around each musician’s style. Some signature riffs, vocal hooks and bigger choruses are more central to the songs, but I’m open to any change that genuinely makes something better. There will also be room for completely new ideas without abandoning the existing material.
The first step is to choose the strongest six to eight songs, rebuild them as a band and develop a tight 30-minute live set. The aim is to rehearse regularly in Leicester and start gigging in spring/summer 2027, then expand towards a 40–45-minute set, record finished versions and release original music. Longer term, I want to gig regularly, build a following and take it as far as we realistically can, including touring if the opportunity develops.
Strong melodic clean vocals are the priority for the singer, although grit or occasional heavier vocals would be welcome. For every role, reliability, preparation and musical feel matter more than showing off. Ideally I’m looking for people roughly in their 20s or 30s, but the right fit is more important than an exact age.
This is intended to become a serious originals band, not just an occasional jam, while still being enjoyable and realistically organised.
If you’re interested, send me a little about yourself, your location, influences and availability, plus any recordings or clips if you have them. I can send over a small selection of demos so you can hear the direction.
