Wanted - band mates for new US alt rock/grunge tribute, Alt Nation. Think the usual suspects including Nirvana/Pearl Jam/Smashing Pumpkins/Soundgarden/Foos plus the wave of alternative bands that hit the airwaves from across the Atlantic around the mid nineties - Pixies, Screaming Trees, Weezer, QOTSA, Live, Alice in Chains, Gin Blossoms et al. Very happy to expand to songs with female vocals - Belly, Breeders, Garbage, L7 etc - if line-up allows with vocals being split.
I'm not expecting relentless gigging, paying off the mortgage or world domination
. Most of us by this point have a few musical ventures on the go, but there's space for something new when we can find mutually free dates and I reckon there'd be demand for the middle-aged punters for a rocking band focusing purely on this genre. We'd start out slowly in the right pubs to gauge a response, and aim at carving out a niche in the venues where we go down a storm and at outdoor festivals.
What I'm looking for: traditional line-up with 2 x guitars (I'm one, happy to share lead/rhythm duties), confident and engaging lead vocalist, bass, drums. Ideally the lead vocalist plays either bass or guitar to keep things as a 4 piece but no biggie if not. Backing vocals a major plus. Re: equipment I have a few bits knocking around but not a full PA, so we'd need to see what we have between us. Own gear and transport essential, super easy-going, enthusiastic with a love of the genre and ability to nail your own parts before bringing it all together at rehearsals. Most of us who were growing up with these songs will likely be early-mid forties /early fifties ish so that's the loose gauge on age.
The plan - find everyone, agree a handful of songs from an initial list I've put together on Spotify (link avail for interested parties) and get together for a jam to see where we're at. Based in Peterborough, so jams/gigs will be around that neck of the woods.
Send me a message if you fit the bill
